Recently, the governor of South Carolina signed a new law, which took effect on January 1, 2004, that makes domestic violence a felony and toughens penalties for the crime.

I hope the new law will decrease the number of deaths. I also think Public Service announcements should be made daily detailing what will happen if you are found guilty of domestic violence.
