Poems

I've Forsaken the Violence
Why Did You Kill My Mother?

I've Forsaken the Violence
Dedicated to Wallace W. 'Smitty' Smith
Upon the Completion of his book:
Real Men Don't Abuse Women: A Personal Account

I was once broken and driven by life's wounds
The very rage within the storm
Of inner turmoil and violence!

I'd learned all to well
From the worst life had to offer
Having become a casualty
Of so much neglect and abuse

But just as I'd learned to cling to my anger
I'd now learn to sow
Seeds of compassion and hope

For now I have unlearned
Lessons of violence, pain, and anger
And now reap a rich harvest
Of understanding, peace, and remorse
